Behind the scenes at weddings, part 1

One of the many great things about being a photographer with your spouse is that you end up with lots of pictures of each other at work. Now that our summer wedding season is over, I thought it would be fun to look back on all the fun times Mike and I had on our photo shoots!

Wandering around in a field of buttercups in Maryland

He found an empty room to use while backing up all the files.

Running to get out of my shot

Mike, looking a bit like Zapphod Beeblebrox

Chimping and apparently not liking what I see!

Stalking Sarah at the salon

My friend Steve Tinetti was shooting at the same hotel!

Congratulations, Sarah and Brian!

Why take a normal photo when you can roll around on the ground instead?

Mike looks like a paparazzi hiding behind a bush, only there isn't a bush.

Oops! Mike got a souvenir from a bird! Thank goodness he always brings extra clothes, just in case.

I love this one. I was running ahead of the groomsmen, who were carrying the groom to the pool.

On the beach at Jekyll Island, Georgia

Removing nasty cactus things from my shoe. Also look how dirty I got during our beach photo shoot.

I had to document this rare moment. We stepped away from our table to take photos, and when we returned, the waitstaff hadn't taken our cake away! The waitstaff always takes our cake away while we're taking photos!

Mike, taking a photo of my parents, who were guests at this beach wedding

Dancing with Mom and Dad!

I think I look really creepy here.

It's hilarious that Mike caught this moment. During the ceremony, I backed up and didn't look where I was going. I spun around just inches before knocking over this huge candlestick. Everyone in the room was looking the other direction, so the only people who saw it were Mike and the brides. They were standing at the other end of the aisle and saw the whole thing, and started to laugh silently.

Mike doesn't normally do family portrait shoots with me, but I love it when he does!

Mike caught this moment when we were sitting there chatting, and suddenly the baby fell off the couch. D'oh.

Self-portrait on a passing bus

Aw, adorable baby Dorothy

Mike summed me up pretty well in this photo! I smile whenever I see it.

Steve Tinetti shot this wedding with us, and here it's his turn to look creepy!
Don't worry, the bride knew he was there, and the resulting photo was gorgeous, but it sure is funny to watch!

Mike tells some new friends about the moose that once charged him. "Its head was THIS big!"

Steve took this nice photo of Mike reflecting for a portrait of Erin and Jason.

I love this one.

Mike, hunting deer

On a lunch break in Beaver Creek. Nice!

Looking dapper

Steve took these pictures of Mike and me together

Steve got artsy while Mike and I did family portraits

Steve Tinetti

Steve took this one while Mike and I were photographing the lovely bride.

Love this one.

My Mikey. Thanks for taking all these great pics of us, Steve!

Wow, I still have a ton more pictures to post. I'll stop here and start a separate post for the rest!

I can't wait for a second installment. Those are great behind the scenes photos.

Your friend Steve is a good photographer too.

It's nice to see that we're not the only ones who get down and dirty for the shot! One of my friends just posted pics from a trip and there's one that her mom took of her literally on the sidewalk to get a fun angle of her son. It all goes with the territory, huh?

Absolutely! Rolling around in the dirt is one of the most fun parts of the whole thing. :) (Except for the photo shoot where I got poison ivy by doing just that!)

I've started stowing an extra change of clothes in the car, just in case I get a little too unkempt looking.

I like the one of the groom being carried to the pool, too!

As for Mike looking like a paparazzo behind a bush, perhaps for Halloween, you might get him a camouflage helmet with twigs and branches sticking out of it? Not quite Macbeth's wandering woods coming to Dunsinane, but it'll do, methinks.

Has Mike gotten into baseball at all? There's one picture that looks like he's trying to steal a base.

That's pretty funny! He'd be a great moving bush for Halloween. :)

Nope, I don't think Mike follows baseball at all, but I don't doubt that he could steal a base with ease. He's got some stealthy moves.

Totally cool to finally see pix of how the magic all happens. :)

I love them all...I am going to start documenting our time together shooting like this...what a fun scrap book this will make! You are both wonderfully photogenic!

A scrap book is a great idea! I think I'm going to make a book of our photo adventures, too!

Great Shots. The scene in the first one looks familiar. My good Canon just broke on Saturday :( I'm looking for a DSLR "like" camera. Any good recs if you have time? Thanks! Can't wait to see the rest of the pics.

Oh no, I'm sorry about your camera! Hmm... I'm not really sure what to recommend for cameras. I don't really follow the latest gear, except for my own particular needs. I can say that I've been happy with my Canon G7. Canon just released an updated version of it, the G9, and I've heard great things about it.

That Starbucks photo is one of my favorites! Really I'm such a latte addict that I could probably teach myself to take photos without any hands, so that I could double-fist my coffee. ;-)

It always looks like you and Mike have so much fun photographing together, that'd be so fun to help you guys photograph weddings and such.

I love seeing you all at work! And knowing that I'm not the only one rolling around on the ground trying to get the shot! :)
